Branko Milanovic is a Principal economist in the World Bank's research department, Human resources division, and professor teaching Economics of Transition at the School for Advanced International Studies Johns Hopkins University. He is working on the issues of income distribution, poverty and social safety net mostly in transition economies. He previously worked in the World Bank as country economist for Turkey (1984-86) and Poland (1988-91). Dr Milanovic articles have been published in major international economic journals. He is the author/co-author of five books: Liberalization and Entrepreneurship: Dynamics of Reform in Socialism and Capitalism (1989), Economic Inequality in Yugoslavia (1990), Transition from Socialism in Eastern Europe: Domestic Restructuring and Foreign Trade (1992), Income, Inequality and Poverty during the Transition (1998), and Poverty and Social Assistance in Eastern Europe (1999).

On October 13th 2005, CLDS organized a promotion of the book
"Worlds Apart: Measuring International and Global Inequality",
written by Branko Milanović, a leading economics in the World bank and a professor on the John Hopkins University.

Promotion was opened by a speech by Dr Bosko Mijatovic and Dr Gordana Matkovic. The presentation by Dr Milanovic was followed by an hour long discussion.

 







Branko Milanovic je vodeci ekonomista odeljenja za istrazivanje Svetske banke i profesor na predmetu Ekonomika tranzicije Univerziteta Johns Hopkins u Baltimoru (SAD). Njegovo profesionalno interesovanje usredsredeno je na pitanja raspodele dohotka, siromastvo i pitanja mreze socijalne zastite, narocito u privredama u tranziciji. U svom dosadasnjem radu u Svetskoj banci bio je zaduzen za pracenje privreda Turske (1984-86) i Poljske (1988-91). Dr Milanovic je objavio veci broj clanaka u vodecim medunarodnim ekonomskim casopisima. Dosad je objavio, kao autor ili koautor, pet knjiga: Liberalizacija i preduzetnisvo: Dinamika reforme u socijalizmu i kapitalizmu (1989), Ekonomske nejednakosti i Jugoslaviji (1990), Tranzicija u Istocnoj Evropi: domace restrukturiranje i spoljna trgovina (1992), Dohodak, nejednakost i siromastvo tokom tranzicije (1998),i Siromastvo i socijalna pomoc u Istocnoj Evropi (1999) i "Worlds Apart: Measuring International and Global Inequality" (2005).Branko Milanović:  'Worlds Apart: Measuring International and Global Inequality'
